Another quick post featuring a weekday lunch that Edwin and I had recently. We had originally intended to dine somewhere else, but we decided against it after we found out that the a-la-carte menu wasn’t available for lunch (we’ll probably head back another time for dinner).
Anyway, we were walking around, looking for another lunch spot, and ta-daa, we found Boomshack, which was surprisingly quiet for lunch hour. It’s a food truck-inspired eatery, and that inspiration is reflected in both the menu and decor.
I had the “kung fu fish” – two fish tacos with curry sesame dressing, avocado, orange, and mango, all tucked into a flour tortilla. Yes, there’s some fusion cooking going on there, but it was quite nicely done, in my opinion. The fish was cooked and seasoned beautifully, and the fruity bits made it especially refreshing.
Edwin had the “vintage” burger – ground beef, three cheese blend, mustard, ketchup, and tomato onion pickle, wedged between square buns. There were some good flavours, but overall it was a bit too greasy.
We also had a side of beet fries, which were THE BOMB. I’m slightly obsessed with beets at the moment, and I never knew they could be deep-fried. This knowledge, coupled with mayonnaise, could be my undoing.
Be right back. Off to purchase a deep fryer.
